Aliyev Holds High-Level Meetings with Slovak Officials; Bilateral Agreements Signed
On December 9, Ilham Aliyev met in one-on-one and expanded sessions with Richard Raši, the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The two countries signed several bilateral agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on consular cooperation, an MoU on cooperation in animal health and food safety, a Protocol of Intent on collaboration between the Ministries of Defense, an MoU between the Ministries of Culture, and an MoU between the Small and Medium Business Development Agency and Slovakia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Aliyev also held a one-on-one meeting with Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, in Bratislava. During the discussion, both sides praised the progress of the Azerbaijan-Slovakia strategic partnership and expressed confidence that Aliyev’s current official visit and Fico's visit last year would further strengthen bilateral relations. They highlighted the high level of political dialogue and noted broad opportunities for deepening cooperation in various sectors.
Fico congratulated Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s achievements in advancing the peace agenda with Armenia. Aliyev expressed gratitude and emphasized that Azerbaijan would continue its efforts to ensure regional peace. The leaders also expressed satisfaction over the involvement of a Slovak company in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and exchanged views on future prospects for cooperation.
