On August 15, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia reported that observers of the European Union Mission and their car were fired upon by Azerbaijani armed forces near Verin Shorja (Upper Shorja) village of Vardenis district of Armenia. 

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that the information is inaccurate. "The time of the visits of the European Union observers in the direction of the conventional border in Armenia, their movement route, coordinates in the area, as well as the brand and number plates of the cars are presented to the Azerbaijani side in advance. The units of the Azerbaijani Army are aware of the mission's visits. For this reason, it is theoretically and practically impossible for such a situation as claimed by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia to happen," the Ministry of Defense stated.

The Civilian Mission of the European Union in Armenia first denied the information about the firing at the mission's car on its page on X (former Twitter). Later, an amended statement was shared, with previous information deleted. In the new tweet, the EU Mission noted that the patrol service was there during the shooting incident, and no one was injured.
