Armenian MFA Responds to Carnegie Report on US Proposal for Regional Infrastructure Unblocking
The Armenian Foreign Ministry addressed a recent report by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which claims that the United States is advancing a proposal to Armenia and Azerbaijan concerning the unblocking of regional infrastructures. Responding to a query from Armenpress, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan emphasized that the unblocking of transport routes in the South Caucasus remains a strategic priority for Armenia.
“The unblocking of transport infrastructure in the South Caucasus has been and remains an important priority for Armenia,” said Badalyan, reaffirming Yerevan’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.
She noted that Armenia has already presented its own comprehensive vision - the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative - which has garnered positive feedback from several international actors. According to Badalyan, this initiative includes practical solutions that are acceptable to all involved stakeholders and aims to leverage the region’s geographic potential as a hub for cross-border transit.
Badalyan further explained that discussions on regional connectivity are ongoing with multiple international partners, many of whom have offered ideas and frameworks related to Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization and infrastructure development.
“Discussions continue with all interested partners with the aim of achieving results that are beneficial and make use of the region’s crossroad potential,” she stated.
