
Azerbaijan Reports Significant Growth in Sea Cargo Trade for 2024

On September 27, Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee reported that over 1.908 million tons of cargo worth more than $1.605 billion were transported by sea in Azerbaijan during the first eight months of 2024. Compared to the same period in 2023, this marks a 27.4% increase in value and a 5.1% rise in volume.
Sea exports during this period amounted to 61,600 tons, reflecting a 17.9% year-on-year (YoY) increase. However, the value of these exports dropped by 32.4%, totaling $77.5 million. On the import side, approximately 1.847 million tons of goods were transported by sea, showing a 4.7% rise in volume, while the value of imports surged by 33.4%, reaching just under $1.528 billion.
