On January 29, Mansur Soltaev, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Chechnya, said that women in the [federal] republic are free and protected.

"Women's rights here are ensured at the appropriate level. There is no problem of violence against women in the republic, and there cannot be, as it is contrary to Chechen traditions. There is not a single fact of appeal to me on this matter. If such cases occur, the law enforcement agencies respond promptly," the ombudsperson said.

According to Soltaev, the active participation of women in the social, cultural, political, and economic life of society is encouraged in the region, but their main mission is to raise children. "Many women work in government agencies and are engaged in business. But the most important mission of a woman is to raise children. Islam assigns a woman one of the main roles in family life, and the republic's clergy pays special attention to family issues. A commission on harmonizing family relations is working in the republic, which has managed to reunite hundreds of families, thanks to which thousands of children are brought up in full families, which is very important for properly providing children's rights. We can rightfully be proud that we have no abandoned children or orphanages," he said.

"Western forces unfriendly to Russia occasionally make attempts to interfere in the lives of Russian families to undermine the institution of the family," Soltaev said. "In close cooperation with state and public structures, we oppose and will oppose this threat by joining our efforts on legal education of citizens, strengthening the institution of the family, and propaganda of traditional values," he assured.
