In response to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili's statements, Inar Gitsba, a member of the de-facto Parliament of separatist Abkhazia, stated that an agreement between two sovereign states—the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation—had nothing to do with Georgia. Additionally, he claimed that there is no settlement called Bichvinta on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, referring to the Abkhazian term "Pitsunda".

Moreover, he stressed that instead of diverting the attention of the Georgian population away from domestic political issues, the Georgian government should launch efforts to enlighten the Georgian society about the need to sign a treaty on the non-use of force and the Republic of Abkhazia's sovereignty. The Abkhazian lawmaker said, "This can be seen as a confirmation of the ideas behind the Geneva International Discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus."

Previously, Zourabichvili condemned the agreement between Abkhazia and Russia to transfer to Russia for 49 years the coastline and sea region surrounding the old state dachas of Bichvinta.
