On August 12, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Türkiye, together with Azerbaijan and Georgia, contributes to regional security. Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Erdoğan emphasized that the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Georgia trilateral mechanism plays an important role in regional processes.

Erdoğan described Georgia and Türkiye as two strategic partners united by "deep historical, cultural and human ties," noting that Türkiye has been Georgia’s largest trading partner for many years. For his part, Kavelashvili reaffirmed Georgia’s support for the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The two leaders also discussed cooperation in the defense industry and expressed their intention to increase bilateral trade from $3 billion to $5 billion annually. Kavelashvili highlighted the significance of the Middle Corridor and projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
