Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei outlined Tehran’s position on the proposed "Zangezur Corridor" on July 28, emphasizing that Iran's stance on regional border changes remains unchanged. He reiterated Iran’s call for Azerbaijan and Armenia to work toward a peace agreement and stated that Tehran supports transport routes only if they respect the territorial integrity of the involved countries. Baghaei also warned against the involvement of extra-regional powers, stating their intervention "will not help the development of the countries in the region."

On the same day, a telephone conversation took place between Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, and Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Hajiyev expressed condolences over deaths from recent Israel-Iran tensions. Both sides emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations and implementing agreements previously reached by their presidents. They also discussed Ahmadian's planned visit to Azerbaijan.
