Kadyrov Clarifies Chechnya's Stance on Iran War

| News, Security, North Caucasus

On April 8, Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of the Chechen Federal Republic, stated that no Chechen units are present in Iran and that none will be deployed there. "There’s information circulating online that Chechen units are supposedly ready to move into Iran to repel an American ground attack. This could very well happen if Iran were only fighting the US and Israel. But they're also attacking our brothers," Kadyrov stated on social media, addressing speculation about possible involvement.

He also outlined his stance on the conflict, emphasizing his conditional support for Tehran. "Without a doubt, I personally support Iran, with one ‘but’: I do not support Iran's strikes on civilian targets and infrastructure in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf," Kadyrov emphasized.

Kadyrov further highlighted his personal ties with regional leaders, noting his relations with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. "I am deeply displeased to see how civilians in these and other third countries become innocent victims of the conflict," Kadyrov added.
