Netanyahu’s Letter to Aliyev: Mutual Trust, Solidarity Following Hamas Attacks, Facilitating Dialogue Between Israel and Türkiye
On June 3, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day.
In the letter, Netanyahu extended his warmest congratulations to Aliyev, his family, and the people of Azerbaijan, highlighting the deep historical ties and enduring friendship between the two nations. He emphasized that the partnership between Israel and Azerbaijan is built on mutual trust, goodwill, and genuine respect between their governments and peoples.
Netanyahu expressed deep appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support for its Jewish community and culture, as well as its steadfast solidarity with Israel following the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. He noted that Azerbaijan has set a remarkable example of compassion and friendship that will not be forgotten.
The Israeli Prime Minister also thanked Azerbaijan for its role in facilitating dialogue between Israel and Türkiye, contributing to regional cooperation efforts. He commended Azerbaijan’s leadership as a pillar of stability and prosperity in the region.
Netanyahu acknowledged that unforeseen circumstances had led to the postponement of his planned visit to Azerbaijan but expressed his eagerness to reschedule the visit at the earliest opportunity, whether in Israel or Azerbaijan, to continue discussions on shared interests and aspirations.
