Russia confirmed that military-technical cooperation with Armenia remains an active topic of discussion, despite ongoing geopolitical challenges, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin stated on March 5.

Speaking to an Armenian news agency, Kopyrkin emphasized that while the current situation has impacted certain processes, both sides are committed to maintaining and advancing their military cooperation.

“The topic of military-technical cooperation exists, it is on the agenda of our relationship," Kopyrkin said. “The Russian side has the political will to maintain what we have. The issues are discussed; some are resolved, and others are still under discussion. But we have the will to resolve them.”

The ambassador also reaffirmed that Russia’s military presence in Armenia remains a key security guarantee, pointing to the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri and Russian border guards stationed in Armenia.

“As far as I know, no one has given Armenia any [Western] security guarantee comparable to Russian-Armenian relations. I haven’t seen any document or statement,” Kopyrkin added.

He noted that Armenia’s leadership continues to positively assess Russia’s military presence, stating that the core components of Russian-Armenian security cooperation remain intact.
