SOCAR Signs Framework Deal With Egypt
On April 1, a delegation of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) took part in the 9th Egypt Energy Show (EGYPS 2026), where discussions focused on energy security, sustainable development, renewable energy, and the implementation of advanced technologies.
Within the event, Vitaliy Baylarbayov, the Deputy Vice President of SOCAR, spoke at the panel "Redrawing Global Trade Flows," highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing contribution to Europe’s energy security. He emphasized the strategic importance of major initiatives such as the Southern Gas Corridor. Baylarbayov noted that the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), a key component of the corridor, was fully commissioned in December 2020, and that Azerbaijani gas is now supplied to 16 countries, including 10 EU member states. He further stated that around 13 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas were exported to Europe in 2025, marking an increase of approximately 60% compared to 2021.
As part of the exhibition, a framework agreement was also signed between SOCAR and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), outlining key directions for cooperation. The document предусматривает long-term, sustainable, and comprehensive collaboration between the two sides across major segments of the oil and gas industry.
