The Georgian Prime Minister Participates in the Antalya Forum
Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian Prime Minister, participated in a diplomatic forum in Antalya. He spoke at a panel discussion focused on defining the future and managing risks. During his speech, he noted that Georgia strives to strengthen its status as a transit hub between Europe and Asia.
"For many years, Georgia has been a reliable bridge between Europe and Asia. We strive to strengthen our connecting function as much as possible. In the current situation, when trade routes are once again facing challenges, we can offer our partners special services around the world. Georgia is a transit hub for the efficient movement of goods, services, energy, and digital data. We continue to work to strengthen this function," he stated.
According to Kobakhidze, Georgia has maintained high rates of economic growth. Over the past five years, the average growth rate was 9.3%, and in January–February of this year, it was 8.4%.
The prime minister also noted that the country's vision is to maintain domestic peace and stability, promote economic progress, and develop ties.
Kobakhidze also touched on relations with the EU, emphasizing that Georgia continues to move toward full EU membership.
"We have a goal similar to North Macedonia's, but we see that the EU itself faces serious and fundamental challenges. For a long time, the EU has had particular strengths: a strong identity, a high level of prosperity, and resilience in democracy and the rule of law. Now the EU faces challenges in all three areas. This concerns us greatly, and we hope the situation changes in the future," Kobakhidze stated.
