On July 14, Tom Barrack, the US Ambassador to Turkey, announced that the United States is prepared to lease the Zangezur corridor, which connects Azerbaijan to its exclave of Nakhchivan, for a period of 100 years. In remarks to reporters in New York, Barrack stated that a major American company might lease the 32-kilometer section of the corridor following a suggestion from Turkey. He emphasized that the US is willing to assume management of the route, declaring, "This way, both sides will be able to use this corridor." Barrack further noted that the primary objective of this initiative is to support and advance diplomatic negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

On the same day, during a press conference in Washington with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US President Donald Trump stated that the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia would soon be successfully resolved. Trump emphasized that the United States had undertaken efforts to address the situation between the two countries and expressed confidence that these initiatives "will lead to a good result."
