Armenia Records Steady Decline in Unemployment and Job Seekers

The number of registered job seekers and unemployed people in Armenia has steadily declined over the past five years, nearly halving since 2021, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Arsen Torosyan said, pointing to what he described as sustained job creation.

Publishing official figures on social media, Torosyan said data from Armenia’s Unified Social Service show a consistent downward trend between 2021 and 2025.

According to the figures, Armenia recorded 86,396 registered job seekers and 58,153 unemployed people in 2021. In 2022, the numbers fell to 70,544 job seekers and 48,561 unemployed. In 2023, they declined further to 64,190 job seekers and 46,019 unemployed. In 2024, the figures dropped to 56,575 job seekers and 37,572 unemployed. By the end of 2025, Armenia recorded 46,508 job seekers and 32,974 unemployed people.

Torosyan said the data confirm recent reports of rising employment. “When we talk about newly created jobs and show steady growth in this area in recent months, we often hear some unclear noise around it,” he wrote. “But the statistics on increasing jobs are also confirmed by the decreasing numbers of job seekers and unemployed people.”

He stressed that over the past five years Armenia has reduced both registered job seekers and unemployed people “by almost half,” adding that the downward trend continues. “The numbers registered with the Unified Social Service at the end of each year clearly demonstrate this,” the minister said.
