Azerbaijan Pushes for Ceasefire and Diplomacy in Gaza at OIC Meeting
On August 25, Yalcin Rafiyev, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, represented his country at the extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During the event, Rafiyev held a meeting with Abdulla Khaleel, the head of the Maldives Foreign Ministry, who emphasized that participants were determined to take a productive part in the session to achieve "an immediate end to the aggression in Gaza."
At the emergency session, Rafiyev stated that Azerbaijan is ready to support a diplomatic resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He highlighted the ongoing military tensions and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of urgent and decisive measures to end the situation. Rafiyev called for a ceasefire in Gaza and the creation of conditions for the delivery of humanitarian aid, reaffirming Azerbaijan’s support for resolving the conflict based on the "two-state" principle in accordance with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He also emphasized that Azerbaijan would continue to provide assistance to alleviate the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people.
