On March 11, a court in Makhachkala sentenced members of a criminal group involved in the illegal transportation of foreigners to European Union countries.

According to the investigation, an employee of the international relations department at a Dagestani university, in collusion with a Jordanian citizen, established a channel for the illegal migration of Syrian nationals to Russia. In exchange for payment, the group provided services such as issuing student visas, arranging reception in Makhachkala, and accommodating individuals in a student dormitory without formal study contracts. The migrants were then sent to Moscow for further illegal departure to European Union countries.

The court sentenced the accomplices to suspended imprisonment terms of one year and six months, with an equivalent probation period, under the article on organizing illegal migration.
