Georgia’s President Condemns Murder of Charlie Kirk

| News, Politics, Georgia

On September 11, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the President of Georgia, linked the murder of US President Donald Trump’s associate Charlie Kirk to his conservative views, criticism of pseudo-liberal ideology, and opposition to “LGBT propaganda.” "The murder of Charlie Kirk is horrifying; it is obviously connected to his conservative views, criticism of pseudo-liberal ideology and fight against LGBT propaganda," Kavelashvili wrote on Facebook. He added that "even more horrifying are the cynical assessments of this terrible fact by followers of pseudo-liberal ideology". Kavelashvili emphasized, "All those who encourage violence, persecution of dissent, and seek to impose and spread ugly ideology are involved in the murder of Charlie Kirk". Notably, Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was tragically assassinated on September 10, 2025, during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The 31-year-old was fatally shot by a sniper from a rooftop while addressing attendees as part of his "American Comeback Tour". The assailant, described as college-aged and inconspicuous, fired a single shot and fled the scene. Authorities have recovered a suspected bolt-action rifle in a nearby wooded area but have not yet apprehended the shooter.
