Ilham Aliyev Complains to New Indian Ambassador About Armenia's Armament
Accepting the credentials of Sridharan Madhusudhanan, the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Baku, on May 19, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that revanchist forces are raising their heads in Armenia and the territorial claims against Azerbaijan continue.
Pointing out that the rapid armament of Armenia creates new dangers, Aliyev noted that if Yerevan wants peace with Baku, why does it acquire weapons worth hundreds of millions of dollars? The President of Azerbaijan stressed that this policy could lead to new threats to the region.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, India will supply Armenia with a large consignment of weapons and ammunition worth almost $250 million. Moreover, on December 7, Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Defense of Armenia, stated that the republic is considering acquiring weapons of new quality and close to actual results.
