Pashinyan Visits Georgia To Advance Educational, Defense, And Regional Cooperation

On October 21, Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, held high-level meetings in Georgia with officials including Givi Mikanadze, Irakli Chikovani, and Irakli Kobakhidze to advance bilateral cooperation in education, defense, trade, and regional peace initiatives. Pashinyan received Givi Mikanadze, the Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, to discuss cooperation during the "Academic City Armenia: International Forum of Knowledge" conference. Pashinyan welcomed Mikanadze’s visit and participation, emphasizing the importance of advancing bilateral collaboration in education, science, and the humanitarian sphere, including close dialogue and sharing experiences in implementing reforms. Mikanadze expressed his admiration for the "Academic City" project and highlighted ongoing cooperation with Armenian partners through joint programs, while also noting plans for new initiatives such as scholarships and educational camps. The Georgian minister outlined Georgia’s educational reforms and potential areas for collaboration, particularly in higher education, scientific research programs, and student mobility. Pashinyan reaffirmed the Armenian government’s interest in implementing new initiatives in these areas.

Nikol Pashinyan also received Irakli Chikovani, the Georgian Defense Minister, to discuss defense and security cooperation. The Prime Minister emphasized the close ties and consistent development of bilateral cooperation in these sectors. Chikovani noted the high level of collaboration with Armenian partners and expressed confidence in its continued effectiveness. The discussion also covered regional security and stability, highlighting the importance of active joint efforts.

On the same day, Prime Minister Pashinyan arrived in Georgia on a working visit and was welcomed at Tbilisi International Airport by Maka Bochorishvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister. Later, a private meeting took place between Pashinyan and Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian Prime Minister. Kobakhidze thanked his Armenian counterpart for attending the 5th Silk Road Forum, and the two leaders discussed issues related to the strategic partnership between Armenia and Georgia. Both emphasized the active political dialogue between the friendly countries and expressed confidence in its continued effectiveness. The Prime Ministers exchanged views on cooperation in trade, economic, and cultural spheres. They also addressed the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan , with Kobakhidze congratulating Pashinyan and expressing confidence that this peace would provide new momentum for regional cooperation and stability. Pashinyan provided details on the implementation of the TRIPP and "Crossroads of Peace" projects, aimed at unblocking regional communication routes. The visit concluded with an official dinner hosted by Kobakhidze in honor of Prime Minister Pashinyan.
