On August 27, the Caspian Flotilla conducted a bilateral tactical exercise involving dissimilar tactical groups at its Caspian Sea combat training grounds. The exercise involved more than ten warships, including the missile ship Dagestan, the small missile ships Tucha, Amur, Uglich, and Veliky Ustyug, the small artillery ships Astrakhan and Makhachkala, as well as base minesweepers. The stated purpose of the drills was to test various operational options for the flotilla’s naval tactical groups.

During the exercise, the crews carried out live-fire combat training against sea, air, and coastal targets representing a mock enemy. In practicing air defense tasks, the personnel detected an aerial target using the ships' radar surveillance systems. The Palash anti-aircraft artillery crews tracked the target, applied active jamming, and then jointly destroyed it with concentrated fire. Surface targets simulating a detachment of enemy ships were also destroyed by naval artillery fire. At the final stage, salvos were fired from naval artillery mounts against coastal targets imitating fortified enemy positions, with subsequent assessments confirming their successful destruction.
