On July 22, Yuriy Husyev, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, announced that Baku and Kyiv are discussing opportunities to deepen their cooperation in the oil and gas sector. He emphasized that Azerbaijan continues to support Ukraine's energy security. In his remarks, Husyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s provision of energy equipment for Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts and noted that the two countries share a long-standing strategic partnership grounded in friendship.

The ambassador also reported that Kyiv and Baku are preparing documents for the construction of four social facilities in the city of Irpin, which will include two sports and arts schools. He further emphasized the expansion of rehabilitation programs in Azerbaijan for Ukrainian children, which have already benefitted over 300 children since 2022.

According to Husyev, Azerbaijani investment in Ukraine is growing, and he noted that Azerbaijani companies had acquired the United Mining and Metallurgical Company at a privatization auction. However, he stated that the trade turnover, which once exceeded $1 billion, stood at $500 million in 2024. The ambassador underlined Ukraine’s interest in developing the Middle Corridor, which he described as vital for boosting trade between the two nations. Husyev also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s donation of the Revival-P demining machine, which is being used in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. He said Kyiv was deepening cooperation between Ukraine’s State Emergency Service and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), stressing that Azerbaijan’s mine clearance experience is highly valuable as both countries face similar threats.
