Volodymyr Zelenskyy: "Transfer Saakashvili to Ukraine, another European country, or America"
In his daily address to the Ukrainian people on December 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned the imprisoned former president of Georgia and Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili's health. He urged the Georgian government to transfer him to one of the clinics in Ukraine, another European country, or America.
"Most likely, everyone was aware of Mikheil Saakashvili's current state of health. I thus make a plea to the people and government of Georgia, urging them to exercise kindness, especially on the eve of Christmas. Saakashvili is currently experiencing brutality. This needs to end," President Zelenskyy stated.
Nika Melia: "Zelensky's appeal or the Kremlin's directive"
Nika Melia, the Chairman of the United National Movement, responded to the appeal of Zelenskyy. Melia thanked the President of Ukraine for his efforts to save Mikheil Saakashvili.
The chairman of the United National Movement stated, "Now the Georgian people must get an answer, whether the government will fulfill Zelensky's appeal or the Kremlin's directive."
"The hero of fighting Ukraine, President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his address, specifically called on the Georgian authorities to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili to Ukraine, the United States of America, or Europe. Even in the conditions of this civilizational war, Ukraine and its President consider the issue of Mikheil Saakashvili's health and life-saving as the most important part of the great historical process that is taking place in the modern world," he said.
