Armenia And Georgia Military Police Chiefs Discuss Expansion of Cooperation

On July 21, Ashot Zakaryan, the Head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, received Shalva Shengelia, the Head of the Military Police Department of the Georgian Defense Forces, and his delegation during their three-day visit to Armenia aimed at exchanging experience and strengthening cooperation in the military police sector.

During the meeting, the sides reaffirmed the agreements reached in October of the previous year and presented the structures, responsibilities, and operational features of their respective military police units. Zakaryan and Shengelia discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation, increasing experience exchange, and further developing partnership relations between the two institutions.

Following the talks, the Georgian delegation visited the facilities of Armenia’s Military Police. At the conclusion of the visit, the heads of the two structures jointly planted a fir tree in the “Yeghevni Park” as a symbol of continued cooperation and friendship between the military police forces of Armenia and Georgia.

British Military Advisory Team Trains Armenian Armed Forces Instructors

From June 29 to July 22, an instructor training course was conducted at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia with the participation of the British Military Advisory Training Team for instructors of the Armenian Armed Forces.

The course aimed to familiarize participants with the role and responsibilities of instructors, improve their teaching methodologies, and develop modern instructional skills required for military training. During the program, participants completed both theoretical and practical assessments to evaluate their knowledge and abilities.

As a result of the training, several servicemen successfully completed the requirements and received instructor qualification certificates.

Azerbaijan

Military Exercise

On July 20, Special Forces of the Azerbaijan Army participated in the joint military exercise “Zulfiqar” focused on counterterrorism and special operations, which was held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The exercise was organized within the framework of military cooperation and training programs and involved personnel from the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces Command of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army, as well as Special Forces units from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan.

During the drills, participants carried out tactical exercises simulating various operational scenarios with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), modern military equipment, and advanced systems. The training program included urban assault operations, hostage rescue missions, counterterrorism activities, and live-fire exercises involving weapons of different calibers.

The exercise aimed to enhance the operational readiness and combat capabilities of the participating Special Forces units, improve coordination during joint operations, and facilitate the exchange of experience in the field of special operations.

Azerbaijan And Türkiye Strengthen Military Police Cooperation

On July 20, a delegation from the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan visited Ankara, Türkiye, where it held a series of meetings focused on military police cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, Elgun Aliyev, the Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations and Chief of the Military Police Department, was received by Yaşar Güler, the Minister of National Defense of Türkiye. During the meeting, the sides emphasized that the friendship and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye continue to develop successfully through cooperation in the military police sphere.

The Azerbaijani delegation also met with the Commander of the Turkish Special Forces and the Chief of the Special Forces School. Aliyev expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for its continued support in strengthening and developing Azerbaijan’s military police capabilities.

As part of the visit, the delegation observed the training process of the Close Protection Course organized for the Close Protection Unit of the Azerbaijani Military Police at the Turkish Armed Forces Special Forces Command. The delegation was later hosted at the Ankara Central Command, where Azerbaijani representatives were briefed on the command’s daily operations and the command-and-control systems currently in use.

The visit concluded with the Azerbaijani delegation attending the graduation ceremony of the Close Protection Course, during which participants demonstrated the practical skills acquired throughout the training program.

Serbian Defense Delegation Visits Azerbaijan

On July 22, a delegation from the Ministry of Defense of Serbia visited Azerbaijan within the framework of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan signed between the Ministries of Defense of Azerbaijan and Serbia. During the visit, the Serbian delegation held a meeting at the Institute of Military Management under the National Defense University, where it received a briefing on the “Geopolitical Aspects of the Conflict.” The presentation included information on the experience gained during Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War.

The delegation was also briefed on the military education system and training procedures implemented within the Azerbaijani Army. During the discussions, representatives of both sides exchanged views on advanced practices in military education and modern approaches applied in the preparation of military personnel. The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest and expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation in the military education and defense fields.

Georgia

Chikovani Discusses Sovereignty Support With India And Defense Cooperation With Türkiye

On July 22, Irakli Chikovani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Georgia, held meetings with Kumar Mishra, the Ambassador of India to Georgia, and Mustafa Türker, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Georgia, along with Colonel İlhan Öztendural, the Military Attaché of Türkiye.

During the meeting with Mishra, Chikovani wished the diplomat success in his future activities and thanked India for its support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The sides discussed the current dynamics of bilateral relations and exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation in various areas.

Later the same day, Chikovani met with Türker and Öztendural to discuss ongoing issues related to Georgia-Türkiye defense cooperation. The Georgian defense minister also wished success to Öztendural in his future activities as he completes his mission in Georgia.

NATO Training Center Commander Visits Georgia

On July 24, Bogdan Ritzersky, the Commander of the NATO Joint Force Training Center (JFTC), paid a working visit to Georgia, where he held meetings with representatives of the Georgian Defense Forces and visited NATO-Georgia cooperation facilities. During the visit, Ritzersky met with Irakli Chichinadze, the Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces of Georgia. The sides discussed the capabilities of the Georgian Defense Forces and prospects for further developing cooperation between Georgia and NATO. As part of the visit, the NATO official was hosted by the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) in Krtsanisi. David Gagua, the Commander of JTEC, provided Ritzersky with a briefing on the history, objectives, implemented projects, and future plans of the center.

The meeting highlighted the long-term and successful cooperation between JTEC and JFTC, as well as the significant support provided by the NATO Joint Force Training Center in strengthening the capabilities and development of JTEC. Following the briefing, a farewell ceremony was held for Per Ivar Pedersen, the Head of the NATO Advisory Group, and Chief Sergeant Jacob Jensen. Chichinadze, along with the commanders of JTEC and JFTC, thanked the NATO representatives for their contribution to the development of Georgia-NATO military cooperation and presented them with commemorative gifts. During his visit, Ritzersky also visited the Combat Training Center (CTC), which operates within the framework of JTEC.
