US Military Flight In Georgia Draws Iranian Warning On Regional Risks
On April 1, a US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III landed at Tbilisi International Airport after arriving from Germany, remaining there for approximately half an hour. Commenting on the development, the US Embassy stated that "such aircraft movements are a routine part of US military airlift operations and are regularly conducted in coordination with partners."
Following the aircraft’s arrival and subsequent telephone conversations between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Seyed Ali Mojani, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia, issued a warning on social media. "When some countries, unwillingly or hastily, cede their space and territory to foreign adventurers, sooner or later they pay the price at home," Mojani stated.
He emphasized that the White House may be seeking to shift the burden of its confrontation with Iran onto countries located to the south of Iran. "This is where short-term decisions and miscalculations turn into long-term problems. Those who supported Donald Trump yesterday are now forced to pay the price for that step," Mojani added. The ambassador further warned that "even some NATO allies are choosing a policy of distancing themselves from Washington," stressing that "the crisis is much closer than it seems at first glance."
